Today’s forecast: sunny with a chance of wine.

Do you know how to enjoy wine? You definitely should. Firstly, because of the health benefits. Secondly, moderate wine consumption is fun. And, lastly, it’s so hard to decide which wine, winery, or island you prefer!

Experience in brief

What has island hopping got to do with wine-tasting?

Some would say all the best wine is cultivated on the islands of Dalmatia. We dare you to come and see for yourself.

Places you will explore

Dalmatia is home to so many great wine varieties. DNA testing proved that Dobricic variety from Solta is one of Zinfandel’s ancestors. A wine tasting cruise in Croatia is incomplete without some island hopping. The islands of Hvar, Brac and Vis offer so much to discover and taste. The history of winemaking started with the first Greek settlers that arrived to the island of Vis in the 4th century BC.

What’s included?

  • 7-day cruise aboard a catamaran with all the fuel and marina berth costs
  • skipper and hostess
  • comfort package (final cleaning, outboard engine)
  • breakfast, light lunch on board
  • 3 wine tastings, 1 excursion with wine tasting & 1 dinner

The wineries and the wines of the Wine Tasting Cruise

Stina vina

This successful winery draws both inspiration and its wine, literally, from the rocks of Brac Island. All the labor has to be hand-made. The winery has 50 hectares with 350.000 grapevine trunks that go up to 500 meters up the hills.

Tomic winery

They offer an ancient setting for wine tasting in the cellars which resemble triclinium, a Roman dining room.

Lipanovic wines

The wine cellars are set in one of the military labyrinths and although nowadays, the autochthonous white wine Vugava prevails on Vis, the red wine Plavac is one that has been reported as incredible even 2300 years ago.

Dobricic wines

This variety is most likely a genetic ancestor of Plavac mali and Zinfandel, and it is an autochthonous wine of the island of Solta

Wine tasting experience

The only thing better than savoring the white, red, and rosé wines is enhancing their taste with local specialties – cheese, prosciutto, olives, honey, and even the atmosphere itself: sounds, scents, scenery.
