Nava’s Commitment to Charter and Boating Sustainability
Sailing with Care – Nava’s environmental policy
The Adriatic is the heart of our operations—a vital, living ecosystem essential for marine life, coastal communities, and the future of nautical tourism. At Nava, we have formalized our environmental responsibility in our policy. We are integrating it into every aspect of our business, from base operations to the moment a guest or boat owner steps aboard. Sustainability is not just as an ethical obligation, but a core strategy for long-term viability.
Operational Responsibility: Base to Buoy
We actively minimize our environmental footprint across all operations. On land, this involves:
- structured waste separation at our bases
- continuous monitoring of energy and water consumption
- staff training that encourages resource efficiency and the use of sustainable transport options like bicycles and public transit.
At sea, our focus is on protecting sensitive habitats like Posidonia oceanica meadows. Skippers and guests are always briefed on responsible anchoring to avoid seabed damage. We moderate speed in biologically rich zones to reduce wake and noise, and ensure all yachts are equipped for waste separation, preventing discharge in protected areas. We exclusively use biodegradable cleaning products to reduce chemical pollution in enclosed bays and marinas.

Innovation for a Greener Fleet
We are committed to upgrading our fleet with technology that supports a minimal impact charter experience. This includes installing desalination systems (water makers) on our yachts, significantly reducing water consumption on islands. Solar panels on both yachts and company facilities contribute to our use of renewable energy, lessening dependence on fossil fuels. Furthermore, we are gradually replacing petrol outboards with electric auxiliary engines where feasible, which lowers emissions and noise and eliminates the risk of fuel spills.
Our next step is verifying our yachts with Green Sail’s Footprint vessel verification and calculating each vessels’ environmental footprint.

Partnering with boat owners and guests
Ultimately, our customers and guests are our “ambassadors” on the Adriatic. Through comprehensive pre-charter briefings, detailed hand-overs we educate clients on best practices, from conserving water and electricity to protecting marine habitats. This partnership extends the impact of our policy far beyond our own fleet.
In short, protecting the Adriatic is inseparable from business success in the charter industry. NAVA’s Environmental Protection Policy is a coherent framework of procedures, technical upgrades, training, and education. Our simple goal is to provide exceptional sailing holidays and boating experiences while leaving the smallest possible trace behind.
