For many years, our company has placed special emphasis on protecting the sea and preserving marine flora and fauna as a whole. Through our daily efforts, we invest in the future of our children. Our environmental protection policy applies to every employee, vessel operations, as well as the organisation and logistics of our base operations.

Charter activities require a strong understanding of the principles of sustainable development within the tourism sector. The seasonal nature of our business calls for different operational approaches and additional effort, while at the same time providing dynamic and diverse business processes throughout the year.

1. Sustainability in Practice

At all levels of the company—management, department heads, technical and office staff, housekeeping, as well as permanent and seasonal crew—we strive to take all possible measures to protect nature.

  • Employees use bicycles for transport between remote bases
  • We encourage the use of public transportation by providing monthly passes
  • Employees living farther away are offered carpooling options using company vehicles
  • All staff are trained in energy and water conservation, consumption reduction, and waste separation
  • We provide additional containers for all types of waste and monitor compliance with waste-sorting guidelines
  • Through our own example, ongoing communication, and education, we encourage guests to take equal care of the sea and the environment

2. Sustainability at Sea

Crew

  • A comprehensive pre-charter briefing to inform and guide guests on responsible behaviour aligned with marine and environmental protection
  • Responsible anchoring practices, avoiding protected areas and seagrass (Posidonia) meadows
  • Noise reduction during navigation
  • Prohibition of feeding or disturbing marine animals, as well as collecting shells, plants, or stones
  • Optimised route planning, maximum use of sails on sailing yachts and catamarans, and speed limitations near the coast and biologically rich areas
  • Use of biodegradable and environmentally friendly cleaning products, with careful reduction of consumption
  • Use of marina and port facilities for showering and laundry whenever possible
  • Waste separation onboard and disposal in designated recycling containers at ports
  • Prevention of the discharge of sewage and other wastewater in protected areas
  • Reporting of pollution or environmental damage to the relevant authorities
  • Regular vessel inspections to prevent oil, fuel, or chemical leaks into the sea and environment

Base Manager / Technical Staff

  • Continuous education, training, and implementation of all available methods for protecting the marine environment
  • Cooperation with local communities and associations, including participation in sea, seabed, and coastline clean-up initiatives
  • Installation of solar panels and systems using renewable energy sources
  • Installation of desalination systems to produce drinking water, reduce single-use plastic, and increase onboard comfort and autonomy
  • Replacement of standard petrol-powered auxiliary engines with electric engines:
    1. Reduced harmful emissions
    2. Quieter operation with minimal disturbance to marine life
    3. No risk of environmental pollution
    4. Compatibility with renewable energy systems
    5. Improved charter reputation through innovative eco-friendly solutions
  • Procurement of biodegradable and non-toxic cleaning products and rational use of water during vessel maintenance
  • Labelling vessels with stickers and leaflets containing concise guidelines, information, and behavioural protocols

3. Our Goals

Green Sail Footprint vessel verification is a structured process of collecting and validating technical and operational vessel data in order to calculate its actual environmental footprint. It is based on measurable indicators such as fuel and energy consumption, propulsion type, onboard equipment, and operational habits, ensuring a transparent and comparable assessment of environmental impact.

Nava employees have completed sustainability training in nautical tourism through Green Sail courses: Marine and Ocean Sustainability and Climate Change.

The core principle and guiding philosophy of our operations is based on the idea that individuals should leave no trace of their presence when visiting natural environments. In this way, we ensure the preservation of the sea and the environment in their original state.

The objective of our strategy is to protect the marine environment while simultaneously providing a high-quality and safe experience for our clients.

  • Continuous education of employees, crew, and charter clients on the importance of protecting the sea and marine habitats
  • Promotion of eco-friendly technologies such as energy-efficient engines, solar panels, and water-saving systems
  • Cooperation with local communities, port authorities, and environmental protection institutions to ensure the long-term preservation of marine ecosystems

Through these efforts, our charter company actively contributes to the sustainable development of nautical tourism and the preservation of the sea for future generations.
