Croatia is the pearl of the Adriatic. Just imagine yourself as the captain of your Saxdor boat, admiring the sea, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Without a doubt, choosing your mother port in Croatia is a sweet torture. It defines the destinations for your daily boat trips. In Croatia, unforgettable adventures await when you set out from any harbor. Historical sites, paradise beaches, and uninhabited islands are all an hour or two boat ride away with your Saxdor boat.

Historical landmarks & potential mother ports

The appeal of the Croatian coast in the passing ages is primarily due to the safety of the natural harbors, coves, and mostly mild sailing conditions. Whereas the bare and unindented Italian coast has much rougher weather circumstances. Today, the security of the natural bays, along with the natural and historic riches continue to attract sailors, but of a different kind.

Be that as it may, the Croatian coast can be divided into 2 main regions. Firstly, we have the North Adriatic with Istria and Kvarner. Then, there is Dalmatia, further south. Dalmatia consists of three parts with its own characteristics, cultural values and cities.

1. South Dalmatia – Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik’s old town stands on a steep promontory above the sea. It is famous for its 14th-18th century fortress walls that surround the city along the perimeter. Game of Thrones fans might appreciate these walls, and the town, as it was the filming location for many episodes of the series.

Don’t miss the Museum of Contemporary Art in Dubrovnik. Here you will see paintings, sculptures, prints, and art installations from Croatian artists from the late 19th century to the present day. The museum’s terrace with gorgeous sea views impresses visitors as much as the works of art, themselves.

2. Central Dalmatia – Split and Trogir

Many ancient Roman monuments and fine examples of medieval and Renaissance architecture adorn these museum cities. In Split, you need to visit the ancient palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian, rub Grgur Ninski’s big toe, and make a wish. Diocletian’s palace was built from 295 to 305 AD, but it is remarkably well-preserved and still quite visible. Dine in a fine restaurant, charming tavern or quick snack stand within the palace walls, that are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Shop in some small local store or fancy boutique, or just simply enjoy the breathtaking view of the entire city.

3. North Dalmatia – Zadar and Sibenik

Sibenik, for example, is home to the Cathedral of St. James, another UNESCO World Heritage Site.

And in Zadar you listen to the Sea Organ located on the city’s waterfront. It is an original system of 35 scaled pipes that are located under the steps of the seaside promenade. The sound of the air pushed out by the waves is brought to the surface of the embankment and gives rise to amazing melodies. Come listen to the music created by nature itself!

4. Istria and Kvarner

Choosing North Adriatic as your starting point had many advantages. For instance, the marinas in Istria and Kvarner are great places to keep your boat because they offer excellent facilities. Such as, modern docks, fuel stations, and repair services. Additionally, these marinas are located in some of the most beautiful areas of Croatia, with easy access to stunning coastlines, charming towns, and cultural attractions.
Pula, Rovinj, Cres, Porec, have some of the best marinas in Istria and Kvarner. Pula is known for its rich history and ancient Roman ruins, while Rovinj is a picturesque fishing village with narrow streets and colorful houses. It has one of the most luxurious marinas in Croatia. Porec is a popular tourist destination with beautiful beaches and lively nightlife. Whereas, Cres is a marina that has just recently acquired its 22nd Blue flag and a new sea garbage collector.

How to get from one port to the next?

The best way to travel between these towns is, of course, by sea. For instance, the motorboat Saxdor 320 GTO is perfect for family travel. It is very easy to drive, safe, and fast. With this powerful yacht, you could comfortably cover the distance from one region to the next in just one day.

Paradise beaches and islands – boat trip Croatia

From the mainland base, there are so many options for a daily-excursion or boat trip. The Croatian coastline is dotted with picturesque coves with sandy and pebble beaches.

Most of these are ideal destinations for water sports, SUP boarding, snorkeling, and hiking, or strolling. Take a look at the most interesting place for a daily boat trip in Croatia!

1. Blaca

Boat trip Split number one island is surely the island of Brac. The Blaca Hermitage is also known as Blaca Desert. Due to the rocky terrain and limited sheltered areas, we advise anchoring closer to the shoreline, where you can find patches of sandy or gravelly bottoms. Be sure to check weather conditions beforehand and choose a calm day for your excursion. Once anchored, avoid damaging the delicate marine ecosystem by not dropping anchor near seagrass beds. Respect the natural beauty of the bay. Additionally, secure a line to the mainland for more stability.

Explore the renowned Hermitage of Blaca through a rewarding 45-minute hike. Remember to wear comfortable footwear and carry sufficient water and snacks for the hike, as the path can be steep and challenging in some sections. As you approach the hermitage, take the time to appreciate the fascinating blend of nature and human ingenuity that characterizes this remarkable site. Visit the well-preserved buildings, admire the intricate details, and learn about the monks’ way of life through the on-site exhibits: Monastery Museum, Astronomical Observatory, Living Quarters, Chapel and Gardens and Terraces.

In the summer season (16 June – 15 September) the opening hours are every day except Mondays, 9.00 – 17.00 Last admission for visitors is at 16.30. The entrance fee for adults is 7 € per person and there is no shop or store there, so bring your own water and snacks.
